Adjusting front-axle toe

  1. Clamp steering wheel in centre position using steering-wheel holder -A-  . Use only steering-wheel holders that do not project into the area of the airbag unit -B-  . If necessary, shorten the guide rod on the steering-wheel holder at the top -arrow-  .

    For fast and reliable steering wheel alignment in centre position, use a steering wheel alignment gauge WE 1343  (with integrated angle measurement box).

  2. Measure dimension -a-  between the tie-rod ball -1-  and tie rod -2-  at the left and right and take note of the value. Dimension -a-  should be the same before and after alignment at the left and right (maximum difference between left and right < 2.5 mm).

  3. Loosen lock nut -B-  . Counter at the tie-rod ball -c-  while doing this.
    NOTE:

    Make sure that the bellows are not twisted after turning the tie rods!

  4. Adjust the toe at the left and right wheel using hexagon -A-  .

  5. Tighten lock nut -B-  and check the toe value again. Tightening torque 90 Nm (67 ftlb.)
