Installing rear anti-roll bar

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

Information 

• All screws and threaded joints on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Dimension -1-  , from lower edge of wing to center of axle corresponds to vehicle position. The current height values can be found in 

→ 4495TW ADJUSTMENT VALUES FOR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT .

Pay particular attention to the following points!

• Screws and nuts are Geomet-coated and must not be greased  .

Installation is performed in reverse order to removal. Pay particular attention to the following:

1. Position connecting links -2-  on the removed anti-roll bar -3-. 
2. Screw fastening screws -1-  into nuts, but do not tighten, so that the connecting links -2-  can still move.

3. Guide in and position anti-roll bar with connecting links.
4. Screw in fastening screw -4-  for the connecting link -2-  on both sides of the vehicle. Do not tighten!

5. Position holder -2-  on the left anti-roll bar clamp -3-.

6. Screw in fastening screws -3-  for the anti-roll bar clamps on both sides of the vehicle. Do not tighten!
7. Tighten fastening screws -3-  for the anti-roll bar clamps on both sides of the vehicle. Initial tightening 20 Nm (15 ft. lb.) Final tightening +180°

8. Tighten fastening nut -3-  for the connecting link -2-  from the inside. Initial tightening 50 Nm (37 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90° 

   Counter at the fastening screw -1 -  .

   Make sure not to damage the drive shaft while doing so.

9. Tighten fastening screw -4-  for the connecting link -2-  at the left and right. Initial tightening 50 Nm (37 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°

10. Position heat shield -2-  and fit and tighten fastening screws -1-  . Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ft. lb.)

11. Tighten fastening screw -1-  on the level sensor -2-. Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ft. lb.)

12. Push control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) -1-  onto the holder -2-  on the left anti-roll bar clamp.
