Preparing connecting flange on rear axle differential and cardan shaft

- Remove seal for cardan shaft either at the connecting flange of the rear cardan shaft or rear axle differential and dispose of it. → see figure below
- Re-cut all threaded bores in the rear axle differential flange using a thread cutter (finishing tap) without oil and then blow out the bores using compressed air. → see figure below
Information
- Use cotton buds or rolled-up pieces of paper towel soaked in brake cleaner to clean the clearance holes and threaded bores .
- Do not blow out the clearance holes and threaded bores with compressed air again after cleaning them .
- Clean flange surfaces as well as through-holes on the cardan shaft and rear axle differential (to remove grease). Any further contamination must be avoided, particularly during assembly.
