Installing tie-rod ball
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Porsche Macan and 2015 Porsche Macan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Information
Clean the thread of the tie-rod ball before screwing the tie-rod ball onto the tie rod.
To prevent any damage when screwing the tie-rod ball onto the tie rod, make sure in particular that the thread engages uniformly.
Screw on the tie-rod ball in accordance with the number of turns you wrote down during removal. Then turn it as far as the marking.
This is not a substitute for a later suspension alignment, but merely avoids the need for an approximate adjustment of the steering trapeze.
- Installation is performed in reverse order to removal. Pay particular attention to the following:
Fastening nut -1- securing tie-rod ball to tapered end of wheel carrier: Tightening torque 100 Nm (74 ft. lb.)
Always use a new nut following removal.
Lock nut -2- securing tie-rod ball to tie rod: Tightening torque 90 Nm (67 ft. lb.)
