Replacing brake booster: Notes

Information

In the event of assembly work at the hydraulic connections, all electric plug connections in the area of the connection point must always be connected. This prevents the inside of the plug connections from being splashed with brake fluid or water .
Clean any plug connections that have become dirty or damp during removal and fitting using a lintfree cloth, for example .
Brake fluid on electrical contacts (even thinned brake fluid) leads to corrosion and can cause faults in the system .
Remove any escaping brake fluid immediately; rinse with water and dry thoroughly if necessary .

Information

The following repair instructions describe the procedure for replacing the brake booster together with the brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir.

The brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir remain fitted on the brake booster.

Separate brake pedal from brake booster.

1. 1.1. Press the brake pedal -1- towards the brake booster.
2. 1.2. Release tool T40136 must be fitted on the ball joint on the push rod -2- .
3. 1.3. To press the retaining lugs -3- on the mounting off the ball joint on the push rod -2- , pull release tool T40136 towards the driver's seat and counter at the brake pedal -1- at the same time (the brake pedal must not move towards the driver's seat).
4. 1.4. Release tool T40136 and brake pedal must both be pulled towards the driver's seat.
Place a suitable cloth under the brake fluid reservoir to soak up emerging brake fluid.
Drain brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir using a suitable tool, e.g. a double-action hand pump.
Release and disconnect connector -2- (protect against contact with brake fluid if necessary).

Screw off brake lines -2- on the brake master cylinder

1. 5.1. Unscrew union nuts.
2. 5.2. Pull brake lines out of the brake master cylinder.
3. 5.3. Close off brake lines and brake master cylinder using suitable stoppers.
Remove brake booster -3- .

1. 6.1. Pull vacuum line -2- out of the brake booster.
2. 6.2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- for the mounting saddle.
3. 6.3. Remove brake booster -3- with brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir.
