Removing fuel pump

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Ventilate the work area well.

→ Never ingest or inhale.

→ Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.

→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

Information 

• Absorb any escaping fuel using a suitable binding material or a cloth  .
• Cloths which have absorbed fuel must be disposed of according to the applicable national laws  .
• The fuel system must be depressurized before starting work on it  .
• Only work on the fuel system in well-ventilated rooms  .
• Any seals which have been removed must always be replaced  .
• Do not use any sealant containing silicone or silicone spray when the injection system is open. Traces of silicone drawn in by the engine are not combusted and damage the oxygen sensors  .

Information 

• If the tank must be opened for emptying, disconnect all connections  .

1. Fold protective mat -1-  aside and open the cover -2-  .

2. Disconnect lines above the fuel pump.
   1. 2.1. Disconnect electric plug connection -5-  and -6-  .
   2. 2.2. Lift Cayey bushing -1-  out of the guide and set it aside.
   3. 2.3. Disconnect fuel lines -4-  and -7-  and set them aside.

3. Mark the position of the lock -1-  before opening it using a colored pen.

4. Loosen lock -1-  using wrench T10202 -2-  in -direction of arrow-  and remove it.

   Information 

   • The guiding rod of the fuel level sender must not be deformed  .
   • If the guiding rod is deformed, the fuel level sender must be replaced  .
5. Remove fuel pump module -1-  with seal -2-  .

6. On fuel pump with sucking jet pump -2-  , pull the module out as far as the chamber -1-  and unclip the sucking jet pump at the chamber.
   1. 6.1. After removing the fuel pump, pull the sucking jet pump -2-  with the line -3-  out of the tank.

7. Place fuel pump -1-  (and sucking jet pump, if used) on a clean surface.
