Emptying the fuel tank using the PIWIS Tester

→ Never ingest or inhale.

→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

- Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
Information
Place a cloth underneath to catch escaping fuel.

- Connect a battery charger.
- Connect fuel lines to the drain hose and use a screw-type clamp to secure the connection .
- Connect fuel line -1- to the flange coupling using a push-on connector -2- and check that it is seated securely.
- Insert drain hose into the fuel container (not the fuel tank).
- Pump out fuel using PIWIS Tester II 9818
.
- 5.1. PIWIS Tester must be connected to the fuse carrier in the front left footwell.
- 5.2. Select the Drain tank function by selecting individual control unit search DME and the Drive links/checks menu item.
- 5.3. Press F8 (Start) to activate the fuel pump.
- 5.4. Once you have pumped out the required amount of fuel, press F8 (Stop) to end the process.
- 5.5. Pull off plug-in coupling on the fuel tank flange.
- PIWIS Tester can now be switched off. Then disconnect the connecting line.
- 6.1. Disconnect the battery charger.
