Removing actuating cylinder for rear lid

CAUTION:
Incorrect handling of actuating cylinders
- Actuating cylinders can burst
- Risk of eye injuries
- Risk of bruising
→ The actuating cylinders must be in idle state in order to remove them.
→ Open the lid.
→ Secure the lid after removing the actuating cylinders to prevent it from closing accidentally.
→ Do not use force when opening the actuating cylinders due to the high internal pressure.
Information
- The number of fastening screws, fixing clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment .
- The illustrations for removing and installing the drive mechanism are shown only on one equipment variant and may differ from the actual equipment variant .
- Some steps must be carried out automatically .
- Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle .
- Release electric plug connection -1-
and disconnect connector.
- Press rubber sleeve out of the rear lid.
- Guide out electric line.
- A second person should hold the rear lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
- Insert a screwdriver between the actuating cylinder -2-
and safety clip -1-
.
- Lift up the safety clip by levering the screwdriver -A- . The safety clip remains on the actuating cylinder.
- Pull actuating cylinder off the ball joint -B- .
- Remove actuating cylinder at the body side in the same way.
