Removing actuating cylinder for rear lid

CAUTION: Incorrect handling of actuating cylinders
  • Actuating cylinders can burst
  • Risk of eye injuries
  • Risk of bruising

→ The actuating cylinders must be in idle state in order to remove them.

→ Open the lid.

→ Secure the lid after removing the actuating cylinders to prevent it from closing accidentally.

→ Do not use force when opening the actuating cylinders due to the high internal pressure.

  1. Release electric plug connection -1-  and disconnect connector.

  2. Press rubber sleeve out of the rear lid.
  3. Guide out electric line.
  4. A second person should hold the rear lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
  5. Insert a screwdriver between the actuating cylinder -2-  and safety clip -1-  .

  6. Lift up the safety clip by levering the screwdriver -A-  . The safety clip remains on the actuating cylinder.
  7. Pull actuating cylinder off the ball joint -B-  .
  8. Remove actuating cylinder at the body side in the same way.
