Preliminary work

  1. Disconnect battery ground terminal. → 270619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BATTERY 

    Information 

    The lock carrier must be moved to service position  for better access in the engine compartment at the front. → 503809 LOOSENING AND SECURING LOCK CARRIER (SERVICE POSITION) .

  2. Move to service position.
  3. Loosen drive belt. → 137819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE BELT .
  4. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the solenoid valve for the oil pump.

  5. Disconnect vacuum line -1-  at the turbocharger.
    1. 5.1. Disconnect vacuum line for wastegate from the holder.

  6. Loosen cable guide.
    1. 6.1. Unscrew fastening screw for cable guide and disconnect cable guide -1-  from the timing-case cover.

  7. Expose wiring harness.
    1. 7.1. Loosen retaining clip for ground line -1-  at the turbocharger oil line -2-  .
    2. 7.2. Loosen retaining clip on wiring harness -3-  at the coolant pipe -4-  .
    3. 7.3. Loosen retaining clip on wiring harness -5-  at the B+ line -6-  .
    4. 7.4. Remove holder -7-  for wiring harness -8-  from the oil guide housing -9-  .

  8. Remove pressure and suction hoses close to cylinders 1-3 → 214119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PRESSURE PIPE → WM 244619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE-AIR DISTRIBUTOR
