Replacing battery

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester 3 9900  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

Information 

The AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat  ) battery is a maintenance-free, sealed  battery.

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the Gateway  control unit in the overview  . Press [F12] to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press [F11] to continue.
  4. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  5. Replace battery  must be selected. Press [F12] to continue.

    Follow the instructions on the Tester.

  6. Enter the battery capacity  .
  7. Enter the type of battery  (e.g. AGM).
  8. Enter the serial number  (incl. spaces) of the battery.
  9. Enter the part number  (excl. index) of the battery.
  10. Press [F8] to write values.
  11. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  12. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
