Removing heater

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Porsche Macan and 2015 Porsche Macan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Danger of scalding
  • Coolant can be very hot.
  • Coolant may be pressurized.

→ Only remove the heater when the cooling system has cooled down.

→ By carefully opening the catch on the reservoir, make sure that the cooling system is depressurized.

NOTE: Danger of slipping due to emerging coolant
  • The emerging coolant will make the floor of the workshop slippery and may cause people to slip and fall over.

→ Collect emerging coolant in a suitable pan.

  1. Remove coolant hoses.

    1. 1.1. Clamp coolant hoses -1-  using hose clamp 3094 -3-  .
    2. 1.2. Loosen spring band clamps -2-  using assembly pliers Nr.72 Pos.1  and pull off coolant hoses -1-  .
    WARNING: Emerging fuel
    • Risk of fire

    → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

    → Collect emerging fuel, absorb it if necessary with a suitable binding material and dispose of properly.

    → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

    → Attach warning sign to vehicle in a clearly visible position.

  2. Disconnect fuel line.
    1. 2.1. Loosen spring band clamp -3-  using assembly pliers Nr.72 Pos.1  and disconnect fuel line -2-  .

  3. Disconnect exhaust pipe from silencer.

    1. 3.1. Loosen screw-type clamp -1-  .
    2. 3.2. Pull flexi-pipe -2-  off the silencer pipe -3-  .
  4. Unclip wiring harness -1-  at position -arrow-  and remove it from the holder -2-  .

  5. Release electric plug connection -1-  from the circulating pump -2-  and disconnect it.

  6. Unclip wiring harness -1-  from the coolant hose -2-  at the marked positions -arrows-  .

  7. Remove heater.

    1. 7.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  .
    2. 7.2. Remove heater with holder -2-  and pull it forward slightly.
    3. 7.3. Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  .
