Checking disc wheels
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Porsche Macan and 2015 Porsche Macan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Information
- Straightening and welding work cannot be performed on light alloy wheels .
- The work is carried out initially with the wheel mounted on the vehicle .
- To measure wheels with tyres and wheels without tyres, use a tyre measuring gauge. .
Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout of the wheel with tyre = 1.25 mm. Values less than 1.0 mm - around 0.5 mm would be better - are desirable. For this purpose, match the tyre (turn the tyre on the rim if necessary).
Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout -a- of alloy wheels = 0.7 mm.
If in isolated cases further measurements are necessary, carry out the following procedure.
- To measure wheels without tyres, remove the wheel from the vehicle. → 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL
- Remove the tyre from the alloy wheel. → 444019 MOUNTING TYRES (REMOVING AND INSTALLING TYRES)
- Clamp the wheel on the balancing machine and take measurements at the points -a- .
