Calibrating reversing camera

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

The PIWIS Tester 3 9900  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

Information 

When you calibrate the reversing camera by selecting Calibrate reversing camera  in the PIWIS Tester, the reversing camera control unit is then coded automatically. To do this, follow the relevant instructions on the PIWIS Tester.

  1. Wheel center support with right reflector
  2. Wheel center support with left reflector
  3. Right stop bracket for distance measuring unit
  4. Left stop bracket for distance measuring unit
  5. Linear laser

  7. Spirit level for adjusting calibration board in X and Y direction and cut-out for measuring calibration board height

X1  - Distance from calibration board to right reflector

X2  - Distance from calibration board to left reflector

Information 

The surface of the calibration board must be clean and free of objects.

  1. Align the linear laser -5-  .
    1. 1.1. Position the distance measuring unit -6-  at the right stop bracket -3-  of the calibration board and measure the distance -X1-  to the right reflector -1-  . The distance must be approx. 1, 00 mm.
    2. 1.2. Position the distance measuring unit -6-  at the left stop bracket -4-  of the calibration board and measure the distance -X2-  to the left reflector -2-  . The distance must be approx. 1, 00 mm.
    3. 1.3. The difference between distance -X1-  and distance -X2-  can be max. 1 mm.
  2. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle before starting PIWIS Tester II 9818  . Switch on ignition.
  3. Start the diagnostic application and select the required vehicle type.
  4. Select Reversing camera  control unit in the overview  .
  5. Maintenance/repairs  must then be selected.
  6. Select Calibrate reversing camera  and press [F12] to continue.
  7. In the Code control unit  phase display, press [F12] to continue.
  8. Wait until the Code control unit  phase has finished and then press [F12] to continue.
  9. Follow the calibration  instructions on the Tester, then press [F12].
  10. PIWIS Tester II 9818  confirms that the calibration was completed successfully  .
  11. Check the function and image quality of the reversing camera.
  12. Read out the fault memory.
