Replacing sealing ring for front halfshaft flange: Notes

  1. Remove cover for final drive.
    1. 1.1. Unscrew screws.
    2. 1.2. Carefully take off the cover.
    3. 1.3. Collect emerging oil.

  2. Carefully remove differential and set it down on a soft surface.
  3. Remove left halfshaft flange. → 392519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HALFSHAFT FLANGE 
  4. Press out sealing ring on the back.

  5. Install new sealing ring.
    1. 5.1. Oil the external circumference of the new sealing ring with a light coating of oil and fit it on the pressure piece T40164  .
    2. 5.2. The open side of the sealing ring is facing the pressure piece.
    3. 5.3. Tap sealing ring in as far as it will go using pressure piece. Do not tilt it.
    4. 5.4. Half-fill the space between the sealing and dust lips with sealing grease.

  6. Insert the differential.
  7. Install cover for final drive.
    1. 7.1. Replace O-ring.
    2. 7.2. Tighten screws in the sequence -1-10-  .
