Checking position of PASM connector for clearance

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Porsche Macan and 2015 Porsche Macan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Information

On vehicles with coil springs, the connector grommets or the PASM connector line can rub against the coil spring while driving and can be damaged as a result. To prevent this from happening, the clearance of the PASM connector must always be checked when the following prerequisites are met:

  1. Prepare for the test.
    1. 1.1. Raise the vehicle (vehicle springs must be completely relieved). → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE
    2. 1.2. Centre the steering wheel.
  2. Check the distance between the PASM connector holder (long pin on U-shaped connector holder) and the coil spring mounting point -dimension x-  .

    Distance OK  Length 66 mm  < x < Length 69 mm
    Distance not OK  x < Length 66 mm  or x > Length 69 mm
  3. Check clearance of connector grommet and PASM line with respect to the coil spring.

    1. 3.1. Place M10 drill bit -1-  on at least 2 windings of the coil spring -2-  .
Clearance OK  If the M10 drill bit -1- is not touching  the connector grommet -3-  and PASM line -4-  .
Clearance not OK  If the M10 drill bit -1-  is touching the connector grommet -3-  and PASM line -4-  .
  4. Further steps must be carried out, depending on the results of the check (see table below).
