Replacing front wheel bearing: Notes

- Unscrew fastening screws on the wheel bearing unit.
Information
- The wheel bearing has a magnetized multipole seal, which acts as a pulse sender for the wheel speed sensor .
- The multiple-pole seal -1- must always face upwards when the wheel bearing is set down (this does not apply when pressing the wheel hub into the wheel bearing). Do not damage the multipole seal and do not come into contact with magnetic objects (e.g. magnetized screwdriver, magnet) .
- Remove wheel bearing unit from the wheel bearing housing.
- Press wheel hub out of the wheel bearing.
1 Press tool 2 Sleeve T10230/3 from assembly tool T10230 3 Pressure piece T10230/8 from assembly tool T10230 4 Wheel bearing unit 5 Pressure plate VW 402 6 Pressure plate VW 401 - 3.1. Fit special tools as shown in → Pressing wheel hub out of wheel bearing .
- 3.2. Press wheel hub out of the wheel bearing.
- Press inner bearing ring off the wheel hub.
- 4.1. Separating device Nr.112-2
must be inserted between the inner bearing ring -1-
and wheel hub -2-
. Then pre-tension with the spindle.
- 4.2. Fit special tools as shown in → Pressing inner bearing ring off the wheel hub

- 4.1. Separating device Nr.112-2
must be inserted between the inner bearing ring -1-
and wheel hub -2-
. Then pre-tension with the spindle.
