Disassembling front drive shaft

→ Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
The joint on the transmission side and the joint pin on the wheel side of the front axle can be replaced. The entire drive shaft must be replaced if the profile shaft of the joint pin is defective.
- Remove the outer flat joiner on the inner drive shaft boot using Hose Clip Pliers WE 1627
and use a slotted screwdriver for support if necessary.
- Remove inner flat joiner on the inner drive shaft boot.
- Push the inner drive shaft boot back.
- Remove drive shaft from the tripod bell.
- Remove the outer/inner flat joiners from the outer drive shaft boot.
- 5.1. Pull outer drive shaft boot off the joint pin.
- Clamp the drive shaft (use aluminum protective jaws). Position an aluminum mandrel on the ball hub of the joint pin (star-shaped inner ring) and remove the joint pin (outer joint) by hitting it several times with a hammer.
