Removing lower trailing arm

If installed: Screw off nut -2- on level sensor.
Separate the threaded joint for spring strut -3- .

Remove tie-rod ball at the wheel carrier.

3.1. Screw off nut -1- on the joint pin -2- for the tie-rod ball until it is flush with the thread of the joint pin. Counter while loosening the nut if necessary.

3.2. Press tie-rod ball off the wheel bearing housing using balljoint extractor Ball-joint extractor T40010A . → Pressing off tie-rod ball

3.3. Unscrew nut.

Separate the threaded joint -1- for the trailing arm on the front-axle carrier.
1. 4.1. Press tie rod aside slightly so that the fastening screw is accessible.
2. 4.2. Unscrew nut and remove fastening screw.
3. 4.3. Guide lower trailing arm out of the front-axle carrier and swivel it out to the rear.
Information
- Make sure not to damage the bellows on the drive shaft
- To ensure that the upper trailing arm joints are not damaged, support the wheel bearing housing to prevent it from springing out too much using Transmission and Engine Jack WE 1599 for example .
Press lower trailing arm off the wheel bearing housing.

1. 5.1. Screw off nut on joint pin for the axle joint until it is flush with the thread of the joint pin (counter while loosening the nut).
2. 5.2. Press off joint pin on the trailing arm using a ball-joint extractor press-out tool T40010 .
3. 5.3. Screw off nut on joint pin for the axle joint.
Remove lower trailing arm.
