Installing front-axle carrier

CAUTION:
Wheel carrier raised incorrectly
- Risk of squashing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
- All screws and threaded joints on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Dimension -1- , from lower edge of wing to center of axle corresponds to vehicle position. The current height values can be found in

Pay particular attention to the following points!
- Screws and nuts are Geomet-coated and must not be greased .
- Installation is performed in reverse order. Check the following while doing this:
- Screw in and tighten new fastening screws -1 and 4-
one after the other.
Initial tightening 115 Nm (85 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°
- Screw in and tighten new fastening screws -2 and 3-
one after the other.
Initial tightening 115 Nm (85 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°
- Screw in and tighten new fastening screws -5 and 8-
one after the other.
Initial tightening 115 Nm (85 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°
- Screw in and tighten new fastening screws -6 and 7-
one after the other.
Initial tightening 115 Nm (85 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°
- Fastening screw securing engine mount to front-axle carrier -1- : Tightening torque 55 Nm (41 ft. lb.) .
- Not for V6 biturbo engines: Fastening screw securing retaining bracket for engine mount -4- : Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ft. lb.) .
- Screw in and tighten new fastening screws -1 and 4-
one after the other.
- Only for V6 biturbo engines:
Fit fastening screws -1, 2 and 3-
on the engine mount.
- 2.1. Tighten fastening screws -1- . Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ft. lb.)
- 2.2. Tighten fastening screws -2- . Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ft. lb.)
- 2.3. Tighten fastening screws -3- . Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ft. lb.)
- Support to lock carrier -1-
: Tightening torque 5 Nm (3.5 ft. lb.)
Support to front-axle carrier -2- : Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Lower control arm to front-axle carrier: Tightening torque 140 Nm (104 ft. lb.) Final tightening +180°
