Replacing rear silencer

→ Let hot components cool down.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

Information 

• Before the rear silencer is released, the exhaust system must be supported with a transmission jack or held by another person.

1. On the underside of each exhaust pipe, there are three grooves marking the connection points.
   1. 1.1. Use the center groove.

2. Disconnect exhaust pipe at the connection point marking using chain pipe cutters Nr.166  or ratchet-type pipe cutters Nr.166-1  (or a similar tool).

   Only for installing sports exhaust system: 

3. At the servo motor for exhaust flap control -1-  , release and disconnect electric connector -2-  .

4. Unscrew screws -1-  on holder -2-  for the rear silencer.
   1. 4.1. If replacing only one rear silencer:  Unscrew screws on the relevant side.

5. Remove rear silencer by pulling it downwards.
6. De-burr cut on inside and outside of the exhaust pipe. If necessary, remove rust from exhaust pipe using suitable polishing agents and manually restore its round shape.
7. Convert rear holder for rear silencer.
   1. 7.1. Fit new support rubbers or holders if necessary.
8. Push new clamping sleeve onto the exhaust pipe.
9. Lift the rear silencer into installation position with the help of another person or a transmission jack. Tighten two fastening screws on each holder to the specified tightening torque.
   1. 9.1. Tightening torque for screws securing holder for rear silencer to rear body:
10. Position clamping sleeves in the center of the cutting point during installation.
    1. 10.1. Align clamping sleeve.
    2. 10.2. Tightening torque for clamping sleeve:

1. 3 mm  /Clip contour must not be lower than the lower edge of the clamping sleeve.
