Installing locking cable

Information 

No lateral forces must be applied to the pull rod of the selector knob.

1. Install locking cable -1-  .
   1. 1.1. Position locking cable -1-  .
   2. 1.2. Fit holder for locking cable and fit and tighten fastening screws. Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ft. lb.) 
   3. 1.3. Insert ball socket -2-  .

2. Guide locking cable -1 -  into the selector support -3-  and fit safety clip -2-  .

3. Position heat shield and fit and tighten fastening nuts -2-  .

4. Lift the transmission and fit and tighten fastening screws -1-  and -3-  . Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ft. lb.)

   Information 

   • Loosen clamping screw for locking cable by only about 1 turn.
   • The clamping screw is only accessible in selector-lever position "P".
   • When the clamping screw is loosened, the selector lever must remain in position "P".
5. Tighten fastening screw -1-  for the locking cable using socket insert a/f 5 T40031  . Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ft. lb.)

6. Press release -3-  , actuate selector knob -2-  and move selector lever from position "P" to "D" and from position "D" to "M" and back again several times.

7. Position insulating mat -1-  and connect electric plug connection -2-  .

8. Position holder for switch console -1-  and engage in -direction of arrow-  .
