Changing ATF

WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
NOTE:
Dirt and contamination
- Risk of damage to units or components
→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.
→ Clean or replace dirty components.
NOTE:
Fill level too low
- Risk of damage to components.
→ Do not start the engine.
→ Do not tow the vehicle.
- Remove cross-strut for front-axle carrier.
Information
- The engine must not be started if there is no ATF in the transmission.
- Risk of damage to the transmission.
- Unscrew ATF oil drain plug on the ATF oil pan and drain ATF.
- Replace ATF filter.
- Fit ATF oil drain plug with a new
sealing ring and tighten it.
Tightening torque for ATF drain plug: Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 ft. lb.)
- Fill manual metering pump 6563/3 from the Transmission fluid filler pump set WE 1372 with ATF for the double clutch transmission.
- Unscrew ATF inspection plug.

- Change the ATF when the engine/transmission is cold.
Information
- Only part of the total change quantity can be filled because of the test specifications stipulated for the ATF.
- The remaining quantity must then be filled as described under Checking and topping up ATF .
- Fill in ATF.
- 7.1. Fill in ATF using pump 6563/3 from the Transmission fluid filler pump set WE 1372 until ATF emerges from the inspection opening.
- 7.2. Start the engine and then stop it again after 20 seconds.
- 7.3. Fill in ATF again using the manual metering pump until ATF emerges from the control opening.
- Screw in new ATF inspection plug, but do not tighten.
- To check that the fill level is correct, perform the procedure for checking ATF.
- Install cross-strut for front-axle carrier.
Tightening torque for screws (2x) for front cross-strut: Initial tightening 90 Nm (67 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°
Tightening torque for screws (4x) for rear cross-strut: Initial tightening 90 Nm (67 ft. lb.) Final tightening +135°
- Further assembly is carried out in reverse order.
