Loosening main wire harness in passenger compartment at the left

→ The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

→ The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

→ If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

→ Observe the requirements for working with and installing optical waveguides.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work  .
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation  .
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts  .

1. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on airbag sensor on inner wheel arch at the rear left. → 695119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG SENSOR
2. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on seat-belt pretensioner on driver's side. → 691119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT THREE-POINT BELT
3. Disconnect electric plug connection for wire harness for rear left door in the B-pillar.
   1. 3.1. Lever off locking mechanism for electric plug connection -1-  using a plastic wedge in an upward direction -a-  and pull off electric plug connection.
   2. 3.2. Release electric plug connection -2-  (-b-  ) and press it into the B-pillar.

4. Disconnect electric plug connection for wire harness for front left door at the bottom of the A-pillar.
   1. 4.1. Lever off locking mechanism for electric plug connection -1-  using a plastic wedge in an upward direction -a-  and pull off electric plug connection.
   2. 4.2. Release electric plug connection -2-  (-b-  ) and press it into the A-pillar.

5. Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  for the dashboard wire harness at the left.
6. Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove ground lines from the ground point.

7. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for combination sensor. → 456155 REPLACING COMBINATION SENSOR
8. Loosen connector bracket -1-  under the driver's seat.
   1. 8.1. Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove connector bracket to the rear.
   2. 8.2. Screw off fastening nut -3-  and remove ground line from ground point.

9. Unclip main wire harness in passenger compartment at the left and all sub-parts from holders.
10. Press grommets on the sub-parts into the passenger compartment and guide all sub-parts carefully into the passenger compartment.
