Loosening main wire harness in luggage compartment at the right

→ The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

→ The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

→ If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work  .
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation  .
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts  .

1. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on DC/DC converter. → 270419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DC/DC CONVERTER
2. Pull vent hose -2-  out of grommet.

3. Loosening fuse box -1-  in luggage compartment at the right. → 978409 LOOSENING AND SECURING FUSE BOX 
4. Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove ground line from ground point.

5. Release and disconnect electric plug connections on the trailer hitch control unit. → 669619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRAILER HITCH CONTROL UNIT
6. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the electric parking brake control unit. → 466219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE
7. Release and disconnect electric plug connections on the Park Assist control unit. → 917419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR PARK ASSIST
8. Release electric plug connections -1-  , disconnect them and unclip them from the holder -2-  .
9. Unclip antenna connector -3-  from its holder and release and disconnect it.

10. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear right seat-belt pretensioner. → 691219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR THREE-POINT BELT
11. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the right head airbag unit. → 696619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEAD AIRBAG UNIT
12. Release and disconnect antenna line -1-  on the radio receiver for auxiliary heating -2-  .
13. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the radio receiver for auxiliary heating.

16. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the rear right spring strut.

    All vehicles 

17. Press grommet -2-  into the passenger compartment.

18. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the parking brake actuator.

20. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear right speed sensor. → 451555 REPLACING REAR SPEED SENSOR
21. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear right level sensor, if fitted. → 431955 REPLACING REAR LEVEL SENSOR
22. Unclip main wire harness - sub-part for rear right wheel housing - from all holders and carefully guide it into the luggage compartment.
23. Unclip main wire harness in luggage compartment at the right from all holders.
