Loosening main wire harness in luggage compartment at the left

→ The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

→ The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

→ If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

→ Observe the requirements for working with and installing optical waveguides.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work  .
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation  .
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts  .

1. Take tyre sealing compound and compressor out of the storage tray.
2. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  and remove storage tray -2-  .

3. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on KESSY antenna at the rear. → 966719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING KESSY ANTENNA

   Vehicles with sports exhaust system 

4. Release and disconnect electric plug connections on servo motors for exhaust flap control at the left and right. → 263355 REPLACING REAR SILENCER
5. Press grommet for electric line for the servo motor for exhaust flap control at the left into the passenger compartment.

   All vehicles 

6. Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  on control unit for Lane Change Assist. → 917019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR LANE CHANGE ASSIST
7. Unclip, release and pull off antenna line -2-  .
8. Press grommet -3-  into the passenger compartment.

9. Unclip main wire harness - rear-end connection - from all holders and carefully guide it into the luggage compartment.

   Vehicles with air suspension 

10. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the rear left spring strut.

    All vehicles 

11. Press grommet -2-  into the luggage compartment.

12. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the parking brake actuator.
13. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  on the brake pad wear contact.

14. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear left speed sensor. → 451555 REPLACING REAR SPEED SENSOR
15. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear left level sensor, if fitted. → 431955 REPLACING REAR LEVEL SENSOR
16. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on control unit for tyre pressure monitoring system. → 443419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TPM CONTROL UNIT
17. Unclip main wire harness - connection for rear left wheel housing - from all holders and carefully guide it into the luggage compartment.

    Vehicles with rear-differential lock 

18. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on servo motor for rear-differential lock.
19. Unclip electric line -3-  for servo motor for rear-differential lock from all holders.
20. Press grommet -2-  into the luggage compartment and carefully guide main wire harness - sub-part for rear-differential lock - into the luggage compartment.

21. Remove positive cable -1-  on power distributor. → 978919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING POWER DISTRIBUTOR

22. Unclip main wire harness - sub-part for rear-differential lock - on luggage compartment floor at the centre from all holders.
23. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  and remove ground lines from ground points.

24. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear left seat-belt pretensioner. → 691219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR THREE-POINT BELT
25. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the left head airbag unit. → 696619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEAD AIRBAG UNIT
26. Release and pull off antenna lines -1-  on the left antenna amplifier -2-  .

27. Unclip, release and disconnect antenna lines -1-  on the rear roof pillar at the centre.
28. Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove ground line -3-  from ground points.

29. Unclip, release and disconnect antenna line -1-  on the rear left roof pillar.
30. Unclip, release and disconnect spray water hose -2-  .
31. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -3-  and unclip it from the holder.
