Loosening main wire harness in engine compartment at the right

→ The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

→ The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

→ If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work  .
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation  .
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts  .

1. Release electric plug connections -1-  , disconnect them and push them to the right out of the holders.

2. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on front right airbag sensor. → 695119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG SENSOR
3. Unscrew fastening nut -1-  and remove ground lines from the ground point in the front right wheel housing.

   Vehicles with air suspension 

4. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the front right spring strut. → 433019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT AIR-SPRING STRUT

   All vehicles 

5. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the front right brake pad wear contact. → 463656 REPLACING FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS
6. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the front right speed sensor. → 451155 REPLACING FRONT SPEED SENSOR
7. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the front right level sensor, if fitted. → 431855 REPLACING FRONT LEVEL SENSOR

8. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the right headlight.

   Vehicles with PASM 

9. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  on sensor for body.

10. Remove grommet -1-  on the right from the body.
    1. 10.1. Unhook locking mechanisms for the inner ring -2-  .
    2. 10.2. Pull inner ring out of the outer ring -3-  .
    3. 10.3. Pull grommet -1-  on the right out of the body into the passenger compartment.

11. Unclip main wire harness in engine compartment at the right from all holders.
12. Carefully guide main wire harness in engine compartment at the right into the passenger compartment.
