Replacing control unit for memory seat adjustment

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester 3 9900  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester 3 9900  .

  1. Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start the diagnostic application. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select vehicle type.
  3. Select the Driver/Passenger seat memory  control unit in the overview  and press [F12] to continue.
  4. Codings/adaptations  must now be selected.
  5. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Then press [F12] to continue.
  6. The Tester displays the message Automatic coding has been completed successfully  . Press [F12] to continue.
  7. Maintenance/repairs  must then be selected.

    Information 

    For some equipment variants, standardisation must be performed on both the driver's side and passenger's side.

  8. Select Standardise seat motors  . Press [F12] and start by pressing [F8].
  9. Follow the instructions on the Tester.
  10. The seat automatically moves to various seat positions. When the seat remains stationary for a few minutes, press [F12] to continue.
  11. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
  12. Carry out a function test.
