Removing dashboard moulding on passenger's side

Information 

• The number of fastening screws, fixing clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment.
• The illustrations for removing and installing the drive mechanism are shown only on one equipment variant and may differ from the actual equipment variant.
• Some steps must be carried out automatically.
• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle.

1. Open cover flap on navigation system.
2. Open closing flaps on the air vents using adjusting wheels -1-  .
3. Move both vane tabs -2-  to centre position.

4. Guide puller hook in the upper area -1-  into the left air vent and make sure that the hook -2-  engages securely in the housing -3-  . Suitable tool: Hook 3438 
5. Hold puller hook tightly and release the left locking lug.
   1. 5.1. Open the glove compartment.
   2. 5.2. Unhook locking lug -1-  through the opening -2-  using a screwdriver.

6. Pull on the puller hook until the air vent with moulding disengages from the dashboard.

7. Guide puller hook in the upper area -1-  into the right air vent and make sure that the hook -2-  engages securely in the housing -3-  .
8. Hold puller hook tightly and release the right locking lug.
   1. 8.1. Unhook locking lug -1-  through the opening -2-  using a screwdriver.

9. Pull on the puller hook until the air vent with moulding disengages from the dashboard.

10. Pull air vent with moulding -1-  out of the dashboard. On vehicles with illuminated air vents, disconnect electric plug connections -2, 3-  .

11. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on the left air vent and disconnect air vent from the moulding.

12. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on the right air vent and disconnect air vent from the moulding.
