Replacing PCC/PVTS control unit

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester 3 9900  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in PIWIS Tester 3 9900  .

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Switch to the PPN portal Porsche Car Connect Support  .
  3. Select Replacement of devices  .
    1. 3.1. Enter the vehicle identification no.
    2. 3.2. Check vehicle details; the vehicle contract status must be set to active  .
    3. 3.3. Press the button Initialise procedure for replacing a device  .
    4. 3.4. Select a reason for replacement.
    5. 3.5. Replacement of devices  can now be started.
    6. 3.6. Wait for the timer to end, read instructions and press Next  .
    7. 3.7. Document the displayed installation code  .
    8. 3.8. Exit the portal and replace control unit. → 906419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR AUXILIARY ALARM SYSTEM 

    Information 

    Before installing the new control unit, the control unit specifications must be documented/photographed.

    If a problem occurs while teaching/activating the control unit following installation, you will need the control unit specifications for the Hotline.

  4. Read and carry out the following instructions:
  5. In the overview  , press [F7] to switch to the Additional menu  . press [F12] to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press [F11] to continue.
  6. PCC/PVTS start-up  must now be selected. press [F12] to continue.
  7. Follow the instructions on the Tester. press [F12] to continue.
  8. Perform procedure according to menu guidance. Read and follow the information and instructions on the Tester.
  9. Back to the overview.
  10. Select the Rear-end electronics  control unit in the overview  .
  11. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  12. Automatic coding  must now be selected. press [F12] to continue.
  13. The Tester displays the message: Coding completed successfully.
  14. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  15. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
