Adjusting front gap dimensions

Information 

• Adjust gap dimensions on lid and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
• Given a clearance in the opening that is too great or too small, the accessories must be centred with respect to the body.
• Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
• The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
• The guidelines apply to repair work and assembly work.
• Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions. Star gauge WE 1690 

Adjusting front lid 

1. Alignment of lid hinge -1-  in X and Z direction on the bodyshell.

2. Alignment of the front lid using the adjusting elements in X, Y, Z -X, Y, Z-  .

1.	Fastening nuts on upper part of lid lock -1-	Locking mechanism for front lid	Loosen.
2.	Fastening nuts securing lid hinge to lid -2-	Adjusting gap dimensions in X and Y direction	Loosen.
3.	Front lid -3-		Set gap dimensions in X and Y direction by moving the lid.
4.	Fastening nuts securing lid hinge to lid -2-	Adjusting gap dimensions in X and Y direction	Tighten fastening nuts to Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  until secure. Adjusting front lid
5.	Fastening nuts on upper part of lid lock -1-	Locking mechanism for front lid	Tighten fastening nuts to Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.).  Adjusting front lid
6.	Fastening screws securing lid hinge to body -4-	Adjusting gap dimensions in Z direction, rear	Loosen.
7.	Front lid -3-		Set gap dimensions in Z direction at the rear by moving the lid.
8	Fastening screws securing lid hinge to body -4-	Adjusting gap dimensions in Z direction, rear	Tighten fastening screws to Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  . Adjusting front lid
9	Guide plate on front lid -6-	Adjusting gap dimensions in X and Y direction	Set gap dimensions in X and Y direction by moving the lid
10	Fastening screw for guide plate on front lid		Tighten fastening screw to Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  . Adjusting front lid
11	Rubber stop for front lid -7-	Adjusting gap dimensions in Z direction, rear	Tighten fastening screw to Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  . Adjusting front lid
12	Rubber stop -5-	Adjusting gap dimensions in Z direction, front	Set gap dimensions and inclination by turning the rubber stops. There must be slight preload on the lid as a result of setting the rubber stops.
