Removing A-Pillar Reinforcement

Installation position of A-pillar reinforcement 

1. Remove side member closing element.

   Information:  Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

   1. 1.1. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill 
   2. 1.2. Grind down welded seams -arrows-  .

      Removing side member closing element 

   Information:  Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

2. Mark and make a rough cut -arrows-  .

   Information:  Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

   1. 2.1. Drill out marked spotwelds using spotweld drill

   Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

3. Drill out marked spotwelds using spotweld drill 
   1. 3.1. Grind down welded seams -arrows-  .

4. Heat bonding areas.

5. Heat bonding areas from inside -arrows-  .
   1. 5.1. Remove A-pillar reinforcement.

6. Remove remaining piece.
   1. 6.1. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill; see Gr. 2.4 
   2. 6.2. Remove remaining piece of A-pillar reinforcement -1-  in a downward direction -arrows-  .
