Removing Front Side Member

Installation position of front side member 

Information:  Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

  1. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .
    1. 1.1. Grind down welded seams -arrows-  .
    2. 1.2. Remove side member closing element.

    Information:  Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

  2. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .

    Information:  Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

    1. 2.1. Mark and make cut -arrows-  .
    2. 2.2. Remove extension for front wheel housing -1-  . The remaining part -2-  stays in the vehicle.

    Information 

    Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

  3. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .
    1. 3.1. Drill out spotwelds -A-  using spotweld drill  by drilling through two plate thicknesses.
    2. 3.2. Drill out spotwelds -B-  through two plate thicknesses using a → Diameter: 6.5 mm  drill bit.
    3. 3.3. Remove mounting.

    Removing mounting 

    Information:  Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

  4. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .
    1. 4.1. Heat the marked bonding areas.
    2. 4.2. Remove reinforcement.

  5. Mark and make a rough cut -arrows-  on the longitudinal member.

    Removing front side member 

    Information:  Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

  6. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .
    1. 6.1. Drill out spotwelds -B-  through two plate thicknesses using a → Diameter: 6.5 mm  drill bit.

  7. Drill out spotwelds through two plate thicknesses using a → Diameter: 6.5 mm  drill bit.

  8. Heat the marked bonding areas.

  9. Remove front side member.
