Removing Dashboard Support

Information 

• The number of fastening screws, fixing clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment  .
• The illustrations for removing and installing the drive mechanism are shown only on one equipment variant and may differ from the actual equipment variant  .
• Some steps must be carried out automatically  .
• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle  .

1. Cover centre console with protective mat.
2. Remove Kessy antenna on dashboard with the bracket. → 966719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING KESSY ANTENNA
3. Unclip air guide -1-  at the air conditioner and remove it.
4. Unclip air guide -2-  at the air conditioner and remove it.
5. Unclip electric line -3-  at bracket for passenger's airbag unit and remove bracket -4-  .
6. Unscrew fastening screw -5-  for the right air guide at the support.

7. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on the support.
8. Unscrew fastening screws -2-  and remove holder -3-  .

9. Unscrew fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  on the air conditioner.

10. Carry out all steps required for loosening the dashboard wire harness from the support. → WM 970819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WIRE HARNESS FOR DASHBOARD .
11. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  .
12. Unscrew fastening screw -2-  .
13. Unscrew fastening nuts -3-  .
14. Unscrew fastening screw -4-  .

    The help of another person is required for steps 15 to 18  .

15. Press air conditioner -1-  in direction of arrow using a suitable tool and guide retaining lug -2-  out of the bracket -3-  .
16. Carefully pull support -4-  forward until the support -4-  is removed fully at the studs -5-  .
17. Pad the strut -6-  with foam to prevent damage to the windscreen.
18. Carefully lift up the support -4-  and remove it.
