Replacing Switch Console

CAUTION: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

NOTE:

The PIWIS Tester 3 9900  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester 3 9900  .

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the Air conditioning  control unit in the overview  . The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press [F11] to continue.
  4. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  5. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press [F12] to start.
  6. The Tester displays the message Coding completed successfully  .
  7. Select Drive links/checks  and press [F12].
  8. Select Servo motors  and press [F12].
  9. Automatic addressing of LIN servo motors  must be selected. Press [F12] to continue and then press [F8] to start.
  10. Teach LIN servo motor limit stops  must be selected. Press [F12] to continue and then press [F8] to start.
  11. Air-conditioning compressor  must be selected. Press [F12] to continue.
    NOTE:
    • The Compressor run-in function can only be carried out when the engine is running  .
    • Preconditions for compressor run-in can be found in PIWIS Tester 3 9900  by selecting the Compressor run-in  function in the air conditioning control unit and pressing [F1].
    • Specifications  in PIWIS Tester 3 9900 have priority and take precedence over the specifications in the description. 
    • If the Compressor run-in  function cannot be activated, then the Reset compressor run-in function must be carried out first  .
    • Then start the Compressor run-in function again  .
  12. Start the engine.
  13. Reset compressor run-in  must now be selected. Press [F12] to continue and then press [F8] to start.
    1. 13.1. A compressor run-in remaining time of 150 s  must be set.
  14. Compressor run-in  must be selected. Press [F12] to continue and then press [F8] to start.
  15. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
  16. Check the function of the switch console during a test drive and read out the fault memory.
