Removing And Installing Air-Cleaner Element

  1. Unclip garage door sensor under the air cleaner housing if necessary. > Garage door sensor

  2. Loosen all eight screws on the air cleaner housing cover and unscrew them until the screws are no longer protruding underneath (prevents damage to the air cleaner). Remove air cleaner and lower half of housing sideways. > Screws on air cleaner cover

  3. Blow out and clean the air cleaner housing. Check for signs of damage.
  4. Insert a new air-cleaner element into the lower half of the housing. When doing this, check that the seals are fitted correctly.
  5. Unscrew screws on the air cleaner housing so that they are not protruding underneath. Remove them if necessary. > Loosened screws on air cleaner housing

  6. Move lower half of housing with the air-cleaner element inserted into installation position.
  7. Fit and tighten screws and washers for the air cleaner housing. Check that the housing is fully sealed. > Tightening torque 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.) 
  8. Fit both side air guides for the air cleaner housing.

    > Refer to 243619 Removing and installing front air guide at the side in the appropriate service information. 

  9. Fit air pipes, cables and garage door sensor. Check that the air guides or air pipes are seated correctly.
