Information

Once all adjustment procedures are complete in the wheel alignment computer, start the calibration process in PIWIS Tester II 9818  .

Information

The PIWIS Tester II 9818  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818  .

Information

The required height of the Calibration Board For Lane Departure Warning WE 1540  and its distance from the vehicle will not be displayed on the wheel alignment computer. These values are stored in PIWIS Tester II 9818  under Front Camera Calibration  .

  1. Select the relevant vehicle in the wheel alignment computer  .
  2. Select quick function Calibrate front camera  .
  3. Calibration Board For Lane Departure Warning WE 1540  must be aligned by following the procedure and instructions on the wheel alignment computer.
  4. Set the distance from the Setting Device With Reflector WE 1362  to the vehicle as shown on PIWIS Tester II 9818  . The distance -A-  from the center of the wheel hub to the Setting Device With Reflector WE 1362  must always be between 1, 000 mm and 3, 000 mm  . The difference between the distance -A-  on the left side of the vehicle and the distance -A-  on the right side of the vehicle must not be more than 5 mm.

  5. Secure measured-value pickup mounting to the rear wheels of the vehicle.
  6. Fit the relevant measured-value pickups on the measured-value pickup mounting and Calibration Board For Lane Departure Warning WE 1540  .
  7. The height of the Calibration Board For Lane Departure Warning WE 1540  must be 1, 200 mm  . Make sure that the measuring stick is touching the floor. If the vehicle is on a wheel alignment platform, the height of the Calibration Board For Lane Departure Warning WE 1540  must be adjusted to include the height of the wheel alignment platform.
  8. Measure the distance from the highest point of each wheel housing edge to the floor (vehicle standing level) and write it down in mm. These measurements will have to be entered later under Wheel housing edge height  in PIWIS Tester II 9818  .

    Information

The wheel alignment computer is no longer needed for the rest of the calibration process.

Do not move the vehicle or calibration board for lane departure warning WE 1540 from this point onwards!

  9. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle before starting PIWIS Tester II 9818  . Switch on ignition.
  10. Start the diagnostic application and select the required vehicle type.
  11. Select the Front camera  control unit in the overview  .
  12. Select the option Calibrate front camera  under Maintenance/repairs  . Press to continue.
  13. Read the warnings displayed on PIWIS Tester II 9818  and follow the instructions.
  14. Enter the previously recorded values for Wheel housing edge height  and Distance to calibration board  and press to confirm your entries. Press to continue.
  15. Start the calibration process by pressing .

    Information

If the calibration process cannot be completed successfully, one or more of the calibration values are outside of the required range. There can be a number of different reasons for this:

    • The height of the  calibration board for lane departure warning WE 1540 is not correct.
    • The vehicle and  calibration board for lane departure warning WE 1540 are not aligned correctly.
  16. Wait for confirmation that calibration was completed successfully  . Press to continue.
  17. Switch ignition off and then on again.
  18. Check the function and image quality of the front camera.
