Installing Rear Final Drive

Replace sealing rings on the output sides. → Installing Sealing Ring For Halfshaft Flange Removing Sealing Ring For Halfshaft Flange
Secure rear final drive on transmission jack with retaining strap.
Insert final drive by tilting it backwards.
Screw in new fastening screw -left arrow- and nut for rear final drive at the center -right arrow- . Initial tightening 90 Nm (67 ftlb.) Final tightening 120°

Screw in new fastening screws -top arrows- and nuts -bottom arrows- on the final drive at the left and right. Initial tightening 90 Nm (67 ftlb.) Final tightening 120°

Together with air suspension: Secure air compressor. → 431519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPRESSOR FOR LEVELLING SYSTEM
Fit servo motor wiring harness for rear-differential lock with supports -arrows- on transmission.

Install heat shield on final drive. Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Together with rear-differential lock: Install strut on rear axle housing using new screws. Tightening torque 33 Nm (24 ftlb.)
