Removing Steering Wheel

Turn wheels to straight-ahead position.
Information
- Always release and disconnect the plug connections for steering wheel heater cables and airbag cables before removing the steering wheel.
If the vehicle has a heated steering wheel: Release plug connection for heated steering wheel -1- and pull it off.
Release and pull off plug connection for airbag wire harness -2- .

Information

Immediately after unscrewing the fastening screw and before removing the steering wheel, it is essential to mark the position of the steering wheel and steering column -2- .

When reinstalling, this ensures that the steering wheel as well as the airbag spring are fitted back in the same position on the steering column.
Unscrew and remove fastening screw -1- using multiple-tooth socket-wrench insert Nr.32 ().

Mark position of steering wheel.
Remove steering wheel.
