Preliminary work

  1. Remove the relevant hub cap using puller hook 9229/1  and loosen axle bolt -1-  before raising the vehicle. Operate the brake while doing this (2 mechanics required).

  2. Raise the vehicle → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE .
  3. Remove wheel → 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL - SECTION ON "REMOVING" .
  4. Loosen fastening screw -1-  and remove holder -2-.

    Holder on wheel bearing housing 

  5. Remove rear brake calliper and suspend it at a suitable position in the wheel housing (do not open the brake hydraulic system!) → 474119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE CALLIPER .
  6. Remove rear brake disc → 465319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE DISC → 465419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE DISC (PCCB) .
  7. Remove rear coil spring and air spring → 427219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR COIL SPRING  → 434319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR AIR SPRING .
