Joining Process

  1. Check to see how much adhesive oozes out.

    1. 1.1. Make sure that the two-component adhesive is mixed evenly in the mixing tube.
    2. 1.2. Before applying adhesive to the joints, apply a bead of adhesive with a length of → Length: 10 cm  to a paper towel or similar object and dispose of it later. The hardening process can also be checked using this bead.
  2. Apply adhesive.
    1. 2.1. Apply adhesive to the flanges of the joints.

    3. 2.3. Areas not covered by cathodic immersion paint and exposed body panels in cavities must be brushed or filled with structural adhesive.
  3. Apply adhesive to the edges.

    1. 3.1. Apply additional beads of adhesive at the edges and center of the joint. → Application depth: 3 mm

      Information

      • When the adhesive oozes out along the entire length of the joint on both sides, enough adhesive has been applied.
      • 1 50 ml cartridge is sufficient for a flange length of approx. 6 m.
  4. Join components.

    1. 4.1. Join parts, secure them and weld, rivet and screw them within the processing time.

The joining process must take place immediately after applying adhesive in order to guarantee a high quality and reliable bond.

Otherwise the adhesive bead must be removed and pre-treatment of the surface and application of the adhesive must be repeated.

The thickness of the layer of adhesive after joining must not exceed → Layer thickness: 1 mm  ; spread the adhesive out on the bonding surface using a spatula if necessary.

  5. Remove any excess adhesive.

    1. 5.1. Remove most of the excess material with paper or a cloth.
    2. 5.2. Finish cleaning visible surfaces with a cloth soaked in acetone.

Hardened material can only be removed by mechanical means.
