Engine Number Marking

  1. Prepare > VAS 221 003 - marking pen-1-.

    Marking pin VAS 221 003

    1. 1.1 Connect > VAS 221 003 - marking pen-1- to compressed air supply.
    2. 1.2 Turn the adjusting ring -Arrows-  to adjust the compressed air supply.
    3. 1.3 First test the tool on a test part.
  2. Use the marking pen to engrave the engine number into the crankcase.

    Example of engine number

    1. 2.1 If reusing engine number: 
      1. 2.1.1 Engrave the existing engine number onto new crankcase or new short and partial engine with an additional X.
      2. 2.1.2 Example: *DCKA000128X* 
      3. 2.1.3 Document the process in the Warranty and Maintenance Booklet in the Your Vehicle - Vehicle Data Carrier section.
      4. 2.1.4 See TI for further information.

        > Replacement requirement ET/AT engine: Only partial or basic engine available (27/13)

    2. 2.2 To provide a clear marking, use a 0.5 (5 mm) template!
