Installing Timing Chain
NOTE:
Timing chain running direction not maintained
- Risk of damage to sprockets
→ Mark running direction of timing chains.
Information
- If the tensioning element was removed from the chain tensioner, check installation position. The bore in the floor of the housing must be facing the chain tensioner. The piston must be facing the tensioning rail.
- Replace screws that are tightened to an additional torque angle.
- Place the left timing chain on the drive sprocket according to the markings made during removal and guide it up to the cylinder head.
Press the guide rail on the chain tensioner for the left timing chain down and lock the chain tensioner with the locking pin -T40071- .
- Install timing chain.
- 2.1. Place the right timing chain on the drive sprocket according to the markings made during removal and guide it up to the cylinder head.
- 2.2. Install drive sprocket.
- 2.3. Tighten screw -1-
for the bearing pin for the drive sprocket.
Information
Disregard arrow.
- 2.4. Locking pin -T40071- can now be removed.
- Install chain tensioner on the right cylinder head. Tighten screws -1- and -2- .
- Further installation is performed in reverse order.
