Preliminary Work

Information 

The following repair instructions are only relevant for disassembling the engine.

  1. Removing engine.

    > 100119 REMOVE AND INSTALL ENGINE

  2. Remove transmission from engine

    > Refer to 343527 Removing and mounting transmission in the appropriate service information. 

    or

    > WM 373427 REMOVING AND MOUNTING PORSCHE DOPPELKUPPLUNG (PDK) (EXCEPT PANAMERA S E-HYBRID, PANAMERA S HYBRID, PANAMERA EXECUTIVE, PANAMERA GTS, PANAMERA TURBO S,)

    > 1001IN SECURE ENGINE ON ASSEMBLY SUPPORT (MOUNTING BRACKET)

  3. Drain engine oil. For details, see

    > 170117 DRAINING AND FILLING IN ENGINE OIL (CHANGING ENGINE OIL)

  4. Remove drive belt. For details, see

    > 137819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE BELT

  5. Remove coolant hoses in front of the chain housing cover. Don't forget the holder. Coolant return line on turbo, for example

    Connection piece on alternator
    Connection piece screw
    Screw, M6 x 20
    Coolant return line
    Coolant return hose assembly
    Bracket
    M6 screw Aluminium screw;  always use new aluminium screws
    Coolant hoses
  6. Removing both valve covers.

    > 158219 REMOVE AND INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER 

  7. Remove vibration damper.

    > 137619 REMOVE AND INSTALL BELT PULLEY (VIBRATION DAMPER)

  8. Removing joint flange behind the vibration damper and do not re-installed old flange.

    > 137419 REMOVE AND INSTALL CRANKSHAFT SEALING RING FOR BELT PULLEY/VIBRATION DAMPER

  9. Removing oil pan and oil guide housing.

    > 175019 REMOVE AND INSTALL OIL PAN
