Removing Engine From Engine Carrier (Removing Engine)

  1. Also support engine on the assembly table at the front.
  2. For all-wheel drive vehicles: Loosen front drive shafts on the transmission side → 404119 REMOVING AND REINSTALLING FRONT DRIVE SHAFT
  3. Disconnect engine mount on both sides from underneath → 103519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE MOUNT  .
  4. Disconnect front PDCC expansion hose.
    1. 4.1. Open the clamp -2-  .
    2. 4.2. Disconnect expansion hose -1-  .

  5. Disconnect servo line at the steering gear → 489419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HOSE FOR POWER STEERING .
  6. Loosen design cover over cylinder bank 1 to expose the retaining eyebolts → 108319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE COVER (DESIGN COVER) .

    Only for 3.6 l & 4.8 l engines. 

  7. Lift engine off engine carrier.
    1. 7.1. Carefully lift the engine initially using a workshop crane.

      → 1001IN LIFTING THE ENGINE (WORKSHOP CRANE) 

    2. 7.2. Make sure that the engine can be lifted up further without squashing or tilting components.
    3. 7.3. Secure loose components and auxiliary units.
    4. 7.4. Raise the engine.
  8. Move elevating platform out from under the engine.
