Information on wheel loads
Information
- In general, the following applies: max. 40 kg wheel load difference left to right per axle. However, no more than 60 kg difference in total between front axle and rear axle.
- In other words: A maximum of 40 kg at one axle and a maximum of 20 kg at the other axle.
On the Panamera, the body is secured at the rear on a chassis subframe, and at the front axle on a support frame. In certain cases (e.g. after removal and installation of power unit) the alignment values may not be reached. In such cases, the chassis subframe/support frame may be shifted slightly.
Suspension alignment of the Panamera differs only slightly from that of conventional suspension alignment. This applies to both the front and the rear axles.
The varying strength spring shim, at the bottom between coil springs and spring seats (on the right and left spring struts of the front and rear axles) is not intended for changing the vehicle height but for compensating for differences in coil-spring load groups.
If the differences in wheel load are too large, the arrangement of the coil springs (same coil springs left/right) and the arrangement of the shims at the bottom (same shims at bottom left/right) must be checked. Only coil springs and bottom shims with the same color coding should be installed on left and right.
Due to varying trim variants (additional equipment) a maximum difference in wheel load of 40 kg from left to right is permitted per axle. This is partly due to heavier components compared with standard equipment and partly due to additional components that are arranged asymmetrically.
Special notes for vehicles with air suspension
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.
If the vehicle is a Panamera with air suspension, it must be adjusted to the normal vehicle level. The vehicle may be aligned and adjusted in this position only.
If the control unit or one of the level sensors was replaced, calibration must be carried out using the Porsche System Tester. → 430115 CALIBRATING THE LEVELLING SYSTEM
Information
It may be necessary to adjust the vehicle to the Normal Level in the workshop.
- Suspension alignment
- Ride height measurement
- Level check
Adjust vehicle to normal level:
- PIWIS Tester II 9818 must be connected to the vehicle before starting the Tester. Switch on ignition using original remote control (hand-held transmitter).
- Check system air flow using PIWIS Tester II 9818
.
- 2.1. Select >>PASM<< in the control unit overview.
- 2.2. Select >>Drive links/checks<<.
- 2.3. Execute >>New determination of system air flow<<.
- 2.4. If system air flow is OK, continue with → 3.
Otherwise, fill the system beforehand → 4301IN BLEEDING AND FILLING THE LEVELLING SYSTEM .
- Close vehicle doors/rear lid.
- Adjust vehicle to normal level using PIWIS Tester II 9818
.
- 4.1. Select >>PASM<< in the control unit overview.
- 4.2. Select >>Maintenance/repairs<<.
- 4.3. Execute >>Height sensor system component test<<.
- To avoid level adjustment of the air suspension during alignment, switch off the levelling system and switch it back on again when the work is complete. → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE
.
Do not get back into or out of the vehicle again after setting it to normal level for suspension alignment. This can give false alignment results.
