Calibrating fuel level sender

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials
  • Danger of fire or explosion

→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

WARNING: Caustic fluids
  • Danger of chemical burns

→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.

→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Information 

  1. Empty the fuel tank. ? 2010EN Draining and filling the fuel tank (draining and filling fuel)
  2. Wait for a short time (approx. 1 minute) to allow the fuel-level sensor to settle down to the level.
  3. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle before starting it.
  4. Switch on ignition and press >> to continue.
  5. Select the required vehicle type.
  6. Select Instrument cluster  control unit, then press >> .
  7. Select the required vehicle type.
  8. Select Instrument cluster  control unit, then press >> .
  9. Select the Maintenance/repairs  menu and press >> .
  10. Select Fuel tank calibration  menu and press F8 to start the calibration process.
  11. The message Fuel tank calibration completed successfully  appears on the Tester screen.
  12. Press F12 to exit.
  13. Fill the vehicle with fuel and check the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster. Wait a few minutes. Fuel gauge shows full.
  14. Change terminals.
  15. Switch off the ignition.
  16. Wait 30 seconds.
  17. Switch on the ignition.
  18. Check the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster again. Fuel gauge shows full.
