Removing Fuel Tank

Overview => 

1. Fuel-tank filler pipe and breather pipe
2. Screws on fuel-tank filler pipe
3. Restraining straps (fastening straps)

1. Open flap. Open the cap -1-  .

2. Release run-off line on the sealing sleeve at the filler tube and leave it hanging freely. The sealing sleeve -1-  remains fitted.

3. Loosen filler neck.
   1. 3.1. Loosen screws -1-  at the top of the filler tube.
   2. 3.2. Loosen screw -2-  on the filler tube in the center of the wheel housing.

   3. 3.3. Loosen vent line -1-  behind the bore on the body at the plug connection and pull it out of the bore.
4. Remove heat shields at the fuel tank. → Heat shields for fuel tank

5. Disconnect lines at the fuel tank and press them aside.

6. Before releasing the restraining straps, make sure that the fuel tank -1-  cannot fall down. Position transmission jack -3-  under the fuel tank. Support both sides with a suitable crossbar (wooden) -2-  .

7. Remove securing devices (restraining straps). → Fuel tank mounting  Remove the center retaining bracket -4-  last.

8. Slowly lower the fuel tank with the transmission jack with the help of a second mechanic. Guide components down carefully when doing this. Pull the vent line out of the bore on the body -1 left illustration-  . Unclip lines at the top of the fuel tank on the body side while lowering the tank.
9. Remove the fuel tank from the transmission jack with the help of another mechanic if necessary.
