Removing Primary Catalytic Converter On Left Side
- Primary catalytic converter on left side
- Bottom holder on transmission housing
- Top holder on transmission bell housing
- Clamp on flange for turbocharger
- Unclip electric plug connections -1- for the oxygen sensors in the engine compartment at the left and remove them sideways -arrows- . Release and disconnect electric plug connections.
- Check that the cables are routed correctly!
- Unclip cable on the left cylinder bank.
- Remove heat shield -1-
on the drive shaft.
- 4.1. Unscrew fastening screws -2- .
- 4.2. Set the heat shield down on the drive shaft.
- Unclip cables at the transmission housing and at the pressure lines.
- Pull oxygen sensor cables downwards.
- 6.1. Fasten the cables to a suitable cord so that you can pull them up again during installation.
- 6.2. Pull the cables down past the high-pressure pump.
- Loosen clamping sleeve -1-
for the exhaust pipe.
- 7.1. Loosen clamping screws -2- .
- 7.2. Slide clamping sleeves -1- to the rear -arrow- .
- Unscrew nut -1- on the bottom holder -2- .
- Unscrew screw -1-
on the top holder -2-

Information
- Access to the clamps between the heat shield on the all-wheel drive transmission at the front and the turbocharger is very restricted.
- Use a narrow tool (sockets, extensions). Use jointed sockets if necessary.
- Unscrew screw -1- on the clamp -2- and remove clamp -2- .
- Remove primary catalytic converter.
