Installing Exhaust System
Always check the installation dimensions (danger of noise, component collisions)!
- Push new exhaust clamps (clamping sleeves) onto the exhaust pipes. The threaded joint must be pointing downwards.
- If you have not already done so, position the exhaust system on a transmission jack and secure it using a tension strap. -arrows-
- Position the exhaust system under the vehicle using a transmission jack. Do not install too tightly.
- 3.1. When installing the exhaust system, carefully push rear silencers together and guide them into the rear apron. Carefully raise the transmission jack while doing so. Get a second mechanic to help if necessary.
- Screw in and tighten fastening screws on holders -2 and 4-
. Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
- Clamping sleeves
- Centre holder
- Connecting strut between rear silencers
- Rear holder
- Flap system vacuum unit
- The threaded joint on the exhaust clamps must be pointing downwards. Adjust to maximum inclination -3-
and ensure the assembly length is the same on both exhaust pipes. Adjustment value 10° (7.5 ftlb.) Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
- Gap of 0 - 5 mm between the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter outlet
- Length of exhaust clamp
- Maximum inclination
- Connect the vacuum hoses at the vacuum units for flap activation.
Information
Refer to the relevant repair instructions for tightening torques regarding parts belonging to the relevant body, transmission, chassis, electrical component groups.
- Fit reinforcement plate -1- on cardan tunnel.
- Fit struts -1- on the underbody.
- Fit connecting strut between the rear silencers. Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
