Preliminary Work: Notes
Information
The calibration process sends out radar beams, which the Doppler generator reflects. This simulates a vehicle.
A certain number of radar beams are expected in a defined time due to the defined position of the Doppler generator.
Deviations indicate that the control units are not at the correct installation position.
These deviations are displayed on the Porsche System Tester.
Information
The following tools are required for calibration:
- Calibration plates and wheel center mountings: Calibration unit VAS 6350 WE 1368
- Doppler generator: Calibration unit for Lane Change Assist VAS 6350/4 WE 1375
- Spacing laser: Spacing laser VAS 6350/2 WE 1369
Information
The following conditions must be observed in order to perform calibration:
- Calibration must only be performed on level ground.
- The vehicle must be empty.
- Wheels must be positioned straight ahead.
- Vehicle doors must be closed.
- Tires must have the specified air pressure.
- On vehicles with air suspension, the chassis must be set to Normal Level and suspension levelling (air suspension) must be completed.
- The retractable trailer hitch must be retracted.
- The engine must not be running during calibration.
- Check that there is adequate space behind the vehicle and that there are no metal objects/obstacles within 5 meters of the rear of the vehicle.
- Make sure that no objects are moved or no-one moves behind the vehicle during calibration.
- There must be no heavy soiling in the sensor area on the rear apron.
- There must be no stickers in the sensor area on the rear apron.
- The calibration plates, wheel center mountings and the Doppler generators must be fitted, centered/aligned in accordance with the operating instructions.
